TL;DR
RF Validation Engineer I (RF/wireless SoCs): Validating RF and PHY-MAC designs for low-power wireless System-on-Chip products across pre-silicon testing, silicon bring-up, and laboratory measurements with an accent on RF signal chains, wireless standards, and communication-system modeling. Focus on measuring receiver sensitivity and transmitter performance, analyzing RFIC data, and building scalable validation infrastructure for Bluetooth, Zigbee, Wi-SUN, and related technologies.

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; onsite role.

Annual base pay: $84,000–$156,000 USD.

Company

hirify.global develops low-power wireless connectivity and embedded technology for smart home, industrial IoT, and smart cities applications.

What you will do

  • Contribute to the development of Zigbee, Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-SUN, Z-Wave, M-Bus, and proprietary PHY configurations for RF SoCs.
  • Perform pre-silicon testing using block- or chip-level test benches and FPGA emulation.
  • Bring up and validate new IP on silicon and provide feedback to cross-functional teams.
  • Perform RF laboratory measurements, including RX sensitivity, frequency, baud-rate and deviation tolerance, blocking, and TX output power.
  • Support IC Design, Applications, Firmware, PTE, SQA, Systems, and Modules teams through RFIC performance analysis, presentations, and training.
  • Guide the software team on RF software implementations for scalable test infrastructure and efficient workflows.

Requirements

  • BSEE or MSEE and at least 1 year of industry experience with mixed-signal SoCs and exposure to RF signal chains.
  • Experience using Python or another high-level modeling language or tool to design and evaluate communication systems and algorithms.
  • Strong understanding of analog signal fundamentals, basic circuit components, and specifications.
  • Experience with RF signal chains including LNAs, mixers, PAs, A/D converters, and D/A converters.
  • Experience with digital modulation formats such as MSK/FSK, OQPSK, and OOK/ASK.
  • Proficiency using standard RF laboratory instruments, including signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, DMMs, and SMUs.
  • Knowledge of wireless communications standards and protocols including Bluetooth Low Energy, 802.15.4, and 802.11 Wi-Fi.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality output independently.

Nice to have

  • Basic DSP knowledge, including up/down sampling and FIR filtering.
  • Experience with revision control and configuration management systems.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fast-paced environment with a specialized IP-SoC development team spanning multiple wireless technologies.
  • Medical, dental, and vision plans, including PPO or consumer-driven plans with HSA.
  • Flexible vacation plan, 401(k) with match and Roth option, equity rewards, and disability coverage.
  • Flexible spending accounts, adoption assistance, backup childcare, commuter benefits, legal benefits, and pet insurance.
  • Paid volunteer days, charitable contribution matching, tuition reimbursement, wellness offerings, and company updates with the CEO.
