Physicist II (Quantum Computing Hardware)

Location: On-site in Broomfield, Colorado, United States. Up to 10% travel. Candidates must be U.S. Persons; candidates must not be nationals of the People's Republic of China or Russia unless they are also U.S. citizens.

Salary: $101,000–$136,000 annually.

What you will do

• Build, operate, maintain, and upgrade ion trapping testbeds with research scientists.
• Build and maintain laser systems and beamlines.
• Build and maintain electronics systems, including RF and microwave chains.
• Support teams with sophisticated technical problems and independently operate systems and resolve issues.
• Travel up to 10% as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree minimum.
• Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to U.S. Government national security requirements, must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless also a U.S. citizen.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in physics or a relevant engineering field such as optical, electrical, mechanical, or software engineering.
• Ability to analyze large data sets and identify performance correlations and trends.
• Interest in fast-paced environments and willingness to expand knowledge, learn new skills, and push technical boundaries.
• Critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and intelligent risk-taking skills.
• Strong interpersonal, computer, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to program in Python.
