Research Intern (Quantum Error Correction)

Location: On-site in Berkeley, California or Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States

Hourly pay: $50–$75 per hour, based on education and relevant experience.

hirify.global develops quantum computers based on arrays of optically trapped neutral atoms for large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computing.

What you will do

• Contribute to new and ongoing research projects in quantum error correction and fault tolerance.
• Investigate the architecture and strategy of error correction for neutral-atom quantum computers.
• Research fault-tolerant quantum computing using neutral-atom hardware.
• Design, simulate, and execute fault-tolerant protocols.
• Translate theoretical concepts into demonstrations running on actual quantum computing hardware.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a PhD in physics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
• Experience with quantum error correction theory or experiments.
• Knowledge of quantum error-correction codes, fault-tolerant logic, magic state production, or synthesis and compilation of fault-tolerant algorithms.
• Familiarity with Python and Git.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with experimental physicists, hardware engineers, and software engineers.

• Experience applying machine learning or AI to quantum computing.
