Regional Controls Engineer (HVAC/BAS)

Location: Carrollton, Texas, United States; Monday through Thursday onsite with colleagues, with the option to choose the work location on Fridays. Other listed locations include Austin, Texas; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Ridgeland, Mississippi; Pensacola, Florida; Metairie, Louisiana; and Fort Worth, Texas.

Annual base salary: $61,300.00–$109,655.00. Compensation type: hourly base pay. Not incentive or sales commission eligible.

What you will do

• Design commercial comfort control and building automation systems under supervision.
• Review contract documents, mechanical plans, specifications, estimates, equipment submittals, and other project materials.
• Create installation and submittal drawings, sequences of operation, and project documentation for field installation.
• Conduct project surveys when needed, transition documents to the field, and support as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and service handoff.
• Assist BAS technicians with wiring, programming, electrical terminations, commissioning, graphics development, testing, and startup.
• Review project cost estimates and support account managers with installation budgets, subcontractor RFQs, scope statements, milestones, specifications, permitting, and bonding requirements.

Requirements

• Previous HVAC industry knowledge through technician, project management, estimating, or equivalent education and work experience, or demonstrated aptitude for construction and design.
• A degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, construction, engineering technology, or a related area; or 3+ years of HVAC industry experience in project management or estimating; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Familiarity with the operation and design of HVAC systems, building automation systems, and temperature controls.
• Knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office products.
• Understanding of IT infrastructure and network architecture.
• Ability to work as part of a team, operate in a structured environment, maintain organized records, follow engineering standards, and work under mentor or manager guidance.
• Ability to review materials, subcontractor, equipment, labor, startup, service, and other construction-related cost estimates; guide controls design requirements; and provide applicable handoffs.
• Valid driver’s license held for at least 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations, including specified recent DUI, hit-and-run, suspension, reckless or careless driving, repeated infractions, or preventable collision history.

Nice to have

• Understanding of industry-standard protocols and integration requirements.
• Familiarity with new construction, renovation or retrofit, performance contracting, and service project management.
• Experience with CAD programs and a basic understanding of electrical drawings and schematics.
