Counsel, Marketing & Commercial

Location: Hybrid in Brooklyn, New York, US; candidates should be within commutable distance of hirify.global's Brooklyn office and attend once or twice per week. Candidates outside commuting distance may be considered case by case with occasional travel to the office. Eligibility to work in-house in New York is required.

Salary: $156,000–$212,000 annual in Geo-1, or $141,000–$191,000 annual in Geo-2, depending on location, skills, and experience. Additional compensation may include equity and an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Draft and negotiate US and international marketing agreements covering performance and growth marketing, paid search, SEO/SEM, targeted advertising, affiliates, social media, PR, publicity releases, personnel agreements, traditional media, and creative partners.
• Guide marketing-technology vendors through the full lifecycle, including selection, contracting, and offboarding.
• Shape SaaS, data-analytics, and ad-tech agreements covering indemnities, liability limits, intellectual property, and data protection.
• Handle high-volume everyday agreements and partner with Sourcing colleagues on RFIs and more complex deals.
• Advise marketing, brand, creative, and engineering teams on campaigns and new tools while balancing commercial, compliance, and privacy needs.
• Communicate with business partners, Legal colleagues, and outside counsel while identifying and reducing legal and commercial risk.

Requirements

• JD, admission to a state bar, preferably New York or California, and eligibility to work in-house in New York.
• 5+ years of experience at a law firm and in-house working with marketing and commercial contracts for technology and e-commerce companies.
• Experience serving as the main client contact and guiding the legal side of projects.
• Ability to explain legal concepts clearly to technical and business partners.
• Ability to communicate risks and risk-reduction approaches to colleagues and leaders.
• Strong business, negotiation, and communication skills, including spreadsheet analysis and deck creation.
