Graduate Hardware Engineer (EV)

Location: Hybrid between the Slough office, Oxford Street office, and home in the United Kingdom; remote work is available from the UK.

What you will do

• Assist with the end-to-end specification and development engineering of EV chargers and smart energy hardware.
• Conduct hands-on hardware testing, prototyping, and validation for safety, reliability, and performance.
• Support regulatory certification and compliance by preparing required documentation and hardware.
• Investigate hardware issues and perform root-cause analysis to resolve technical challenges.
• Collaborate with firmware, software, product teams, and external companies to integrate hardware into the Octopus technology ecosystem.

Requirements

• Recent BSc or BEng degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to discuss technical concepts with engineering and commercial colleagues.
• Adaptability and willingness to handle varied work including product testing, hardware validation, report writing, and design ideation.
• Solid theoretical understanding of circuit design and operation.
• Comfort working with mains voltages and an uncompromising approach to electrical safety.
• Ability and willingness to work flexibly between the Slough office, Oxford Street office, and home setup as required.
