Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

Location: Remote - Canada; maintain a home base in the country of hire and work remotely within Canada.

Salary: CA$180K–CA$206K annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain robust, efficient, and reliable backend services, APIs, and systems.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to architect and deliver new services from inception through production.
• Develop large-scale features and capabilities that provide value to customers.
• Coordinate with engineering and product teams to deliver solutions and contribute to product and technical roadmaps.
• Create and maintain user-facing technical documentation.
• Help shape engineering culture and maintain high engineering standards.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer specializing in web backend development.
• Experience successfully delivering high-quality production services and systems.
• Customer-centric approach with strong empathy for users.
• Relevant industry experience, particularly in banking or fintech, plus domain knowledge in fraud prevention or compliance.
• Proficient English for casual conversations and formal reports.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Golang.
• Experience in data engineering.
