Data Engineer (Apache Spark)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal; hybrid work required 2 days per week. Candidates must already be based in Portugal and have Portuguese or EU citizenship or a valid work permit.

What you will do

• Build data pipelines for analytics, reporting, and machine learning.
• Design and implement data models, ETL/ELT patterns, and data architecture.
• Work with Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, Python, Java, Scala, and SQL across data engineering projects.
• Use cloud data services on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Implement CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, analytics, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• 4 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
• Extensive experience with the Spark, Kafka, and Hadoop ecosystem, using Python, Java, Scala, or SQL.
• Experience with cloud data services on AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.
• Knowledge of data modelling, ETL/ELT design patterns, and data architecture.
• Experience building data pipelines for analytics, reporting, and machine learning.
• Ability to collaborate with engineering, product, analytics, and business stakeholders.
• Fluency in English at B2 level.
• Availability for hybrid work in Lisbon 2 days per week.
• Already based in Portugal, with Portuguese or EU citizenship or a valid work permit.
