Data Engineer (Azure/Databricks)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain Databricks data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and delivery.
• Integrate multiple data sources into a unified European analytics platform.
• Build and maintain business-facing data pipelines and products from requirements through production.
• Support migration of legacy processes to Databricks and contribute to Azure-based platform evolution.
• Monitor production data batches, troubleshoot issues, and improve pipeline performance, cost, reliability, and data quality.
• Collaborate with Data Analysts and the Data Product Manager on solution design, code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark or PySpark, Delta Lake, and job orchestration.
• Strong SQL and Python skills, with an understanding of data modelling, including star schemas, and ETL/ELT processes.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory or equivalent orchestration tooling.
• Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, or similar version-control and deployment practices.
• At least 3 years of experience in Data Engineering or Data & Analytics roles.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; fluent English is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in analytics and reporting, ideally within the insurance industry.
