Senior Specialist, System Administration (Linux/Windows)

Location: Greenville, Texas, United States; onsite. Schedule: 9/80 regular with every other Friday off, first shift, or 5/8 Monday–Friday. Active security clearance is required, and security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.

What you will do

• Install, configure, maintain, patch, and optimize Linux servers, Windows Server infrastructure, cloud instances, and associated software.
• Deploy and debug Kubernetes workloads, including stateful platform components such as object storage, databases, and registries.
• Manage virtualization, software-defined networking, load balancers, TLS, identity and access management, and foundational networking tasks.
• Automate infrastructure and routine operations using Terraform, Ansible, Bash, Python, or Perl, and support CI/CD workflows with Git-based tools.
• Monitor performance, logs, backups, recovery processes, observability, and high availability; troubleshoot system and end-user issues.
• Collaborate with network staff and technical teams, provide user support, maintain system documentation, mentor junior team members, and ensure policy and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Active CompTIA Security+ certification and active security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of relevant experience; or a graduate degree and at least 4 years of related experience; or at least 10 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with Linux administration, Windows Server configuration, patching, and performance optimization.
• Experience with virtualization technologies and container orchestration tools, including hands-on Kubernetes experience.
• Proficiency with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Proficiency with automation and configuration management using Ansible, Puppet, or Chef, plus advanced PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripting.
• Understanding of SDN and modern networking, including NSX-T, Calico, Cilium, load balancers, and TLS; identity and access management using OIDC, OAuth2, Keycloak, or equivalent.
• Experience with CI/CD tooling and Git-based workflows, distributed systems, observability, troubleshooting, backups, disaster recovery, and security protocols.
• Strong problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively, mentor junior team members, adapt to emerging technologies, participate in on-call rotations, and perform after-hours work for critical incidents.

Nice to have

• Professional Linux administration certification such as LPIC, RHCSA, or CompTIA Linux+.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds; backup and recovery solutions such as Acronis or Backup Exec; and SQL Server or MySQL.
• Familiarity with security compliance, cybersecurity best practices, and disaster recovery exercises and events.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
