Data Intelligence Specialist

Location: Waterdown, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 75,000–105,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, and optimize enterprise data solutions supporting trusted, scalable, and actionable business intelligence across WESCAM.
• Analyze and integrate data from business applications, databases, APIs, cloud platforms, and external systems.
• Create reusable semantic layers, curated datasets, business-ready data models, analytical views, and data lake solutions.
• Translate business needs into logical and physical data models and document business rules, transformation logic, lineage, and technical specifications.
• Implement data quality standards, monitoring processes, and governance controls while troubleshooting integration and transformation issues.
• Coordinate with IT leadership, business stakeholders, developers, architects, analysts, data professionals, external partners, and business leaders.

Requirements

• SQL, Python, or similar data processing technologies.
• Data modeling and semantic layer design experience.
• Data lake and warehouse architecture knowledge.
• Experience with metadata, lineage, and governance tooling.
• Requirements gathering and documentation, process analysis, workflow understanding, problem-solving, and analytical thinking.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, Business Technology, or a related discipline with at least 4 years of relevant experience; or a graduate degree with at least 2 years of related experience; or at least 8 years of directly related experience in lieu of a degree.
• Eligibility for registration with the Controlled Goods Program and a positive security assessment are required. Some positions may require Government of Canada Reliability status and/or Level 2 Secret security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure, Databricks, or Fabric data platforms.
• Experience building semantic models in Power BI or similar BI platforms.
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks and master data management.
• Familiarity with API integrations, data virtualization, and real-time streaming.
