Project Manager (Defence)

Location: The Netherlands, based in Rotterdam; willingness to travel within the Netherlands and to hirify.global Group sites in Germany up to 15%; Dutch security clearance eligibility is mandatory.

What you will do

• Manage the Netherlands scope within the international Knifefish Delivery program and lead a related sub-project under the Senior Project Manager.
• Track NLD deliverables against time, cost, quality, and program baselines; identify deviations and propose corrective actions.
• Act as the day-to-day interface with Netherlands Ministry of Defence program-office counterparts and NLD subcontractors.
• Maintain schedules, action and decision tracking, risk registers, and NLD inputs for international planning sessions, reviews, and milestones.
• Support status reports, KPI dashboards, board-level briefings, proposals, contract amendments, acceptance documentation, changes, risks, and claims.
• Ensure compliance with security regulations, project-management standards, and hirify.global policies while coordinating communication between Netherlands and international teams.

Requirements

• Understanding of the Netherlands Ministry of Defence acquisition and programme-management environment, including how military systems are contracted, funded, and operated by the Netherlands Armed Forces.
• Initial project-management experience in a government, defence, or high-tech environment.
• Ability to work with programme schedules, contract deliverables, and technical specifications.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with MoD counterparts and hirify.global Group colleagues.
• Structured, proactive, and self-reliant working style, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent action items.
• Proficiency in MS Office and standard project-management tools.
• Business fluency in written and spoken Dutch and English.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain Dutch security clearance.
• Completed bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, technical management, defence studies, or a relevant discipline.

Nice to have

• Military background in the Dutch Armed Forces at Senior NCO or Officer level, or direct experience with the COMMIT procurement framework.
• Formal project-management certification.
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as IFS, SAP, or comparable tools.
• Military education, such as NLDA officer training or Defence Academy, or an equivalent professional qualification in programme/project management.
• PMP, PRINCE2 Foundation/Practitioner, or IPMA Level C/D certification.
