Senior Software Engineer (SAP Commerce)

Location: Málaga, Spain; flexible remote working model

What you will do

• Develop and enhance SAP Commerce, Java backends, and REST APIs for an ecommerce and marketplace project focused on product data quality and validation.
• Independently own defined work packages and design technical solutions aligned with business teams and project stakeholders.
• Extend SAP Commerce business logic, develop data models, and integrate external systems through REST APIs, including SAP Commerce OCC APIs.
• Contribute to backlog management through requirements analysis, prioritization, and user story writing.
• Work with cross-functional teams during refinement, sprint planning, release planning, and daily stand-ups.
• Design, develop, and test microservices and API-driven architectures in complex cloud environments with CI/CD pipelines.

Requirements

• Several years of senior-level experience in Java backend development and solid knowledge of Spring Boot.
• Strong hands-on experience in SAP Commerce development, including extending business logic, data modeling, and integrating external systems.
• Experience contributing to or managing backlogs, including requirements analysis, prioritization, and writing user stories.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in an international, agile environment, including refinement, sprint planning, release planning, and daily stand-ups.
• Solid experience across the full software development lifecycle, particularly designing, implementing, and testing REST APIs and working with headless/API-driven architectures.
• Experience designing, developing, and working with microservices in complex cloud architectures, including Azure, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, and REST, as well as CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience connecting and integrating SAP Commerce through REST APIs, such as SAP Commerce OCC APIs.
• Strong communication skills, a consultative approach grounded in technical expertise, and a confident, professional presence with business and project stakeholders.
• Independent, solution-oriented, structured, reliable, and ownership-driven working style, with the ability to quickly get up to speed in new business and technical contexts.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of frontend development with React and TypeScript and integration with REST APIs.
• Experience with the SAP Commerce Promotion Engine and Drools.
