SQL Developer (AWS)

Location: Remote within the United States; U.S. Citizenship is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance is required, with active Public Trust preferred.

Salary: $90,000–$103,000 per year, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views for enterprise applications and data processing.
• Analyze database performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and improve query efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
• Support database modernization and migration initiatives, including transitions from legacy databases to AWS RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Collaborate with application developers, infrastructure engineers, and security teams to integrate database functionality and support application performance.
• Implement database access controls, data protection, and compliance with federal security and governance standards.
• Resolve database issues across development, testing, and production environments; maintain technical documentation, participate in code reviews, and provide guidance to junior developers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent certifications and professional experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on SQL development experience supporting enterprise applications or database environments.
• Experience working in federal government, government contracting, or similarly regulated environments.
• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Strong proficiency in SQL development, including complex queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and performance optimization.
• Experience troubleshooting database performance issues; understanding of relational database design, data integrity, database development practices, security, access controls, and data governance.
• Experience collaborating with application development, infrastructure, and security teams.
• Ability to create clear technical documentation for system maintenance, operational continuity, and compliance.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, ownership, and prioritization skills in a deadline-driven environment.

Nice to have

• Experience migrating legacy databases to AWS RDS or Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or other relational database platforms.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, database deployment automation, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with ServiceNow or similar IT service management platforms.
• Experience working within Agile or Scrum development teams.
