AVP, Engineering (Fintech)

Location: Remote; other location: Fort Lee, NJ

Salary: $170,000–$210,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead and grow the Payments engineering team in a hands-on role comprising approximately 60% engineering and 40% people and project management.
• Design, develop, and deliver scalable software modules and components.
• Build backend systems using .NET 10, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, RabbitMQ, Docker, and AWS.
• Lead, mentor, and support engineers and QA professionals, with a focus on individual growth.
• Plan, triage, and prioritize work across initiatives with lifecycles ranging from two weeks to three months.
• Promote knowledge sharing, calculated risk-taking, learning from setbacks, ownership, and high-impact decision-making.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience across front-end, back-end, API, security, and other software engineering best practices, with progressive leadership or management responsibilities.
• 6+ years of experience with C#, .NET Core, and the Microsoft development ecosystem deployed via AWS.
• 6+ years of experience in real-time data management, including SQL, NoSQL, and caching.
• 4+ years of experience in DevOps disciplines, including Git or Azure DevOps, Terraform, and Python.
• 3+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams and interfacing with product and business organizations.

Nice to have

• Experience in the financial industry, including fintech or traditional banking.
• Strong understanding of business logic to drive relevant engineering solutions.
