Software Development Engineer in Test Intern - Undergraduate (PlayStation)

Location: San Mateo, CA, United States. The internship is subject to SIE's hybrid working policy and includes relocation assistance for eligible candidates.

Intern pay: $50 per hour during the internship period.

What you will do

• Design, develop, maintain, and execute test cases covering software requirements.
• Perform functional, integration, and regression testing through manual and automated approaches.
• Develop and maintain automated test cases and contribute to test automation infrastructure.
• Collaborate with QA Engineers, Software Engineers, and Project Managers to define acceptance criteria and troubleshoot issues.
• Support the PlayStation 4 Console Store and PlayStation 5 applications and tooling.

Requirements

• Be an undergraduate student graduating between May 2026 and December 2029 from an accredited university.
• Have programming experience in commonly used test scripting languages and a good understanding of object-oriented principles.
• Understand the software development life cycle and testing methodologies.
• Be available for the entire 12-week internship period during either May 17–August 6 or June 14–September 3.
• Be authorized to work for any employer in the United States and not require work visa sponsorship from SIE now or in the future.
• Have strong communication skills and a good sense of humor.

Nice to have

• Experience with test automation.
• Proficiency with JavaScript and Python.
• Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and modern browser architecture.
• Familiarity with version control such as GitHub.
• Experience testing single-page web applications and REST APIs.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and engineering best practices.
