Benefits Analyst (Workers Compensation)

Location: Hawthorne, CA; onsite. This is not a remote or hybrid position and may require relocation to the Hawthorne, CA area. Occasional extended hours, weekend work, and travel to other SpaceX offices may be required. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations under ITAR requirements.

Salary: Benefits Analyst/Level I: $85,000–$100,000 per year; Benefits Analyst/Level II: $95,000–$120,000 per year. Actual level and base salary depend on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

What you will do

• Manage assigned workers’ compensation claims from initial handling through closure.
• Explain workers’ compensation benefits, rules, regulations, and procedures to injured employees and management, and coordinate return-to-work opportunities.
• Coordinate claims between injured employees, leadership, the insurance third-party administrator, medical providers, consultants, and the onsite safety department.
• Support initial incident investigations, gather claim information, identify red flags, and escalate issues for resolution.
• Investigate and analyze company exposure related to workers’ compensation claims and respond to subpoenas.
• Support health and welfare benefits, retirement plan administration, wellness initiatives, employee services, and workers’ compensation administration as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least 2 years of human resources experience in a generalist, benefits administration, leave administration, or workers’ compensation background.

Nice to have

• Benefits or human resources certification and affiliations, such as CEBS or PHR.
• Ability to use independent judgment and prioritize work.
• Experience thriving in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
