Senior Staff Global Supply Manager, Battery Cells

Location: Alameda, CA, United States; onsite. Requires 25–30% global travel.

Base pay: $156,000–$211,000 per year, excluding benefits, equity, bonuses, and other total-rewards components.

What you will do

• Lead commercial execution for New Product Introduction, working with Battery Engineering, Product Management, and Supply Chain to move battery products from concept to scaled production.
• Align technology roadmaps with supplier capabilities and evaluate factory readiness, line-speed, yield ramps, and manufacturing tooling.
• Establish Clear-to-Build management across multi-tier supply chains, tracking material readiness, risks, buffers, and component availability for NPI builds and mass production.
• Develop multi-year commodity strategies, secure dedicated capacity and supply continuity, and negotiate MSAs, SOWs, and long-term capacity reservation agreements.
• Build bottom-up cost models covering raw material indices, conversion fees, electrode scrap rates, energy tariffs, and total cost of ownership; drive BOM optimization and Design for Cost initiatives.
• Develop dual-sourcing and multi-region supply networks, optimize duties and trade costs, and ensure compliance with sustainability, FEOC, NDAA, and Battery Passport requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related technical discipline.
• 8–12 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, or supply chain.
• Familiarity with lithium-ion manufacturing processes, including coating, winding/stacking, and formation, plus understanding of cell contract manufacturing models and Tier 1 cell vendors.
• Proven ability to independently negotiate complex international supply agreements, index-linked pricing formulas, and high-stakes supplier relationships.
• Advanced cost-modeling expertise, including Should-Cost and TCO, manufacturing economics, and raw-material indexing, with the ability to use data for executive decisions.
• Ability to translate engineering requirements into commercial outcomes and collaborate effectively across functions.
• Ability to travel globally 25–30% of the time and perform the listed physical duties, including walking between buildings, remaining stationary for extended periods, and operating office equipment.
