Strategic Commodity Specialist (Supply Chain)

Location: San Diego, California; onsite five days a week

Salary: $128,470–$192,710 per year

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and improve supplier roadmaps for assigned commodity categories.
• Analyze global supplier markets, emerging technologies, alternative manufacturing methods, and new sourcing opportunities.
• Assess supplier production capacity, scalability, contingency capabilities, and supply risks against demand and growth plans.
• Create and maintain contingency and risk mitigation plans addressing capacity constraints, geopolitical exposure, and continuity threats.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and other stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with technical and financial requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, resilience, and cost savings.

Requirements

• Business or Engineering degree.
• Extensive experience in strategic sourcing.
• Experience in supply chain sourcing, ideally involving machining and forging.
• Ability to work onsite in San Diego, California, five days per week.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
