Senior Clinical Research Accounting Specialist (Clinical Research)

Location: Brookline, Massachusetts, US; hybrid with 2–3 days onsite per week.

Salary: $88,700–$98,000 per year.

What you will do

• Review and ensure adherence to financial terms and conditions for clinical research, research site, and vendor contracts and budgets.
• Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, bills, payments, subject stipends, reimbursements, and financial documentation across complex disease centers and service sites.
• Track study financial activity in the Clinical Trials Management System and coordinate with study teams, Clinical Research staff, Patient Financial Services, vendors, research sites, sponsors, and funding sources.
• Prepare accounts payable reports, study financial reports, forecasts, and analyses, including month-end reconciliation of ERP and OnCore Financials data.
• Audit historical study activity, identify discrepancies, troubleshoot billing and charge-posting errors, and support process improvements and financial policy development.
• Provide leadership, coaching, training, and mentoring to junior staff and act as a lead or first-level supervisor when the manager is absent.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• At least 4 years of accounts payable and accounts receivable experience.
• Experience and knowledge of the clinical trials lifecycle.
• MCA certification within 1 year of hire.
• Effective oral and written communication, listening, direction-giving, and assistance skills.
• Ability to perform complex mathematics and accounting work.
• Strong organization, accuracy, attention to detail, data-entry, reconciliation, and analysis skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and knowledge of basic financial, tax, and accounting principles.
• Effective customer orientation skills.
