Director – Platform Hardware Engineering (Energy Storage)

Location: Hybrid, 2–3 days in the office; USA-TX-Houston. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

What you will do

• Define and drive multi-generational hardware platform architectures, reusable building blocks, standard interfaces, and scalable product variants.
• Lead technology trade-off studies and integrate advanced power conversion, thermal systems, and auxiliary technologies.
• Provide technical direction to engineering leads and specialists while developing competency frameworks, design standards, training, and knowledge-sharing mechanisms.
• Own hardware engineering milestones from concept definition through prototyping, testing, validation, pilot builds, certification, and full-scale manufacturing rollout.
• Coordinate cross-functional delivery across product management, mechanical and electrical engineering, battery, PCS, grid modeling, thermal and systems engineering, firmware and software, testing, NPI, sourcing, and procurement.
• Provide executive-level reporting and lead resolution of complex technical issues across design, testing, manufacturing, and field operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, or a related hardware discipline.
• 12+ years of progressive hardware engineering experience in complex electrical, mechanical, or power electronics systems.
• Demonstrated experience conceptualizing, launching, and scaling successful multi-generational hardware platforms in global markets.
• Experience defining hardware design specifications and acceptance criteria aligned with IEC, UL, IEEE, grid codes, standards, and market regulations.
• Experience with platform architecture, modularity, product configuration, options and variants, design-to-cost, and product lifecycle management.
• Experience coordinating prototype builds, engineering validation, stage-gate reviews, certification testing, and manufacturing readiness.
• Experience applying design for manufacturability, serviceability, quality, and cost, as well as FMEA, root cause analysis, and qualification protocols.
• Experience leading and developing engineering teams and aligning global technical, operational, quality, commercial, and supply-chain stakeholders.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States throughout employment without employer sponsorship.
