Sr. Director, V&V Engineering

Location: Fremont, California, USA; hybrid

Salary: $265,000–$285,000 annual salary for eligible California positions

What you will do

• Set the end-to-end verification and validation strategy, standards, lifecycle gates, test plans, traceability, coverage goals, and acceptance criteria.
• Lead component, subsystem, product, system integration, qualification, pilot, and field-validation testing across hardware, software, controls, electrical, thermal, mechanical, structural, reliability, and safety domains.
• Validate integrated solutions, interfaces, interoperability, performance, resilience, safety, and customer workflows under normal, fault, boundary, and recovery conditions.
• Build global V&V capabilities across laboratories, test yards, instrumentation, test rigs, automation, data analysis, simulation, software-in-the-loop, and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
• Guide readiness reviews, release recommendations, failure triage, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and regression testing.
• Set priorities, staffing plans, budgets, equipment investments, external partnerships, and accountability for a multidisciplinary V&V organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• 15 or more years of relevant engineering experience, including substantial responsibility for verification, validation, testing, or reliability.
• Seven or more years leading multidisciplinary engineering or test teams, including managers, organizational capability, or major cross-functional programs.
• Demonstrated experience with end-to-end V&V for complex hardware and software products, system-level integration, and customer-facing solutions.
• Strong command of requirements-based testing, risk analysis, design of experiments, reliability and qualification methods, failure analysis, and evidence-based release decisions.
• Experience operating laboratory, test-yard, field, or customer-pilot programs with strong attention to safety, data quality, test coverage, and schedule trade-offs.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience in utility-scale solar, renewable energy, power electronics, eBOS, electromechanical products, industrial automation, or complex energy systems.
• Familiarity with UL, IEC, IEEE, NRTL, or grid-interconnection certification and compliance requirements.
• Experience with test automation, test-management platforms, simulation, data analytics, software-in-the-loop, or hardware-in-the-loop environments.
• Experience leading globally distributed teams and working with suppliers, contract manufacturers, independent laboratories, and field partners.
