Consultant - Energy Storage & Advanced Electronics Safety

Location: Hybrid in Anaheim, Los Angeles, or San Diego, California, United States; work may include office locations, client sites, and remote settings depending on project and business needs. Occasional travel of up to approximately 25% may be required.

Salary: $111,000–$172,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead and support energy storage system safety projects across multiple industries and applications.
• Manage projects involving lithium-ion battery manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, and related technologies.
• Review and interpret testing and engineering reports, including thermal runaway testing such as UL 9540A, to develop facility safety strategies and mitigation concepts.
• Partner with clients and internal stakeholders to develop practical, risk-informed safety solutions.
• Mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to team members and new hires while improving internal tools, processes, and methodologies.
• Support business development, client relationship building, strategic initiatives, and expansion of service offerings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Safety Management, or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in industrial safety, process safety, energy storage systems, or related industries.
• Experience managing industrial or process safety projects within energy storage, battery manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, or related technical environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to varied audiences.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (P.E.), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or similar certification.
• Experience with energy storage safety standards and applications such as NFPA 855.
• Experience in emergency preparedness and response planning, hazard mitigation, risk analysis, electrical safety, fire protection, or fire safety engineering.
• Experience with explosion prevention and control systems.
• Experience with risk assessments and modeling methodologies, including bowtie analysis.
• Experience with computational fluid dynamics, finite element analysis, fire and smoke modeling, plume modeling, or other engineering simulation and consequence modeling tools.
