Undergraduate - Data & Analytics Intern (AI)

Location: New York, USA; eligible employees may work remotely one day per week.

Salary: $32/hour.

What you will do

• Support data collection and analysis across content, media, fan engagement, digital products, and basketball-related initiatives.
• Coordinate with data engineers, data analysts, and BI developers on end-to-end model development and deployment.
• Design statistical analyses and visualizations related to league structure, rule changes, gameplay, and competition formats.
• Perform quantitative analyses of on-court activities and trends and contribute to player health, game integrity, and fan engagement initiatives.
• Collaborate with data governance, digital content, reporting, and Basketball Technology & Innovation teams on cross-functional projects.
• Maintain CRM records and publish customized interactive reports and dashboards using Tableau Server.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in an undergraduate program and enter senior year in the academic year following the internship.
• Demonstrate foundational mastery of AI technologies for project execution and business objectives.
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong academic standing, and leadership demonstrated through relevant extracurricular or community activities.
• Be studying or have an academic background in business or data analytics, computer science, data engineering, data science, economics, finance, information systems, sports or technology management, or statistics.

Nice to have

• Experience or coursework with SQL, Python, or R.
• Experience with Snowflake tools and dbt.
• Knowledge of statistics and model development best practices.
• Experience with Tableau Desktop, including calculations, visualizations, and dashboard development practices.
• Presentation and facilitation skills, strong project management skills, and proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
• Passion for the sports industry and basketball, with high attention to detail, design, and innovation.
