Forward Deployed Engineer - Federal, New Grad 2027 (AI)

Location: Tysons, Virginia, United States. The role requires U.S. citizenship, eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, and authorization to work in the United States without current or future company sponsorship. Travel is required as needed.

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain performant, scalable applications on the C3 Agentic AI Platform.
• Build tools that help users understand and analyze large-scale data.
• Debug, troubleshoot, modify, and unit-test customer applications and solutions.
• Assess technical risks and formulate mitigation strategies.
• Develop specifications, technical documentation, and user support guides.
• Support demonstrations, proofs-of-technology, trials, production applications, and customer training with senior engineers.

Requirements

• Be pursuing or have recently completed a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
• Experience with Python, JavaScript, Java, or another object-oriented programming language.
• Hands-on experience with data structures, algorithms, cloud computing, relational or NoSQL databases, and profiling and optimization.
• Familiarity with agentic AI architectures, prompt engineering, or the fundamentals of LLM tool calling and function execution.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to solve complex engineering problems collaboratively, and the ability to work with high autonomy in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Nice to have

• Current, active U.S. Government security clearance, such as TS/SCI with CI Polygraph or greater.
• Experience with the Federal government, especially DoD.
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as React, Redux, Vue, Backbone, or Angular.
• Experience with Git or other version control software.
• Prior internship or project experience deploying applications at scale.
• Experience with modern developer AI workflows such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude Code, including how they interact with underlying execution environments.
