Application Engineer - Virtual Extender (Automotive)

Location: Milford, Michigan, United States. Hybrid work policy: 3 days in the office and 2 days remote; must be able to report to the local office.

What you will do

• Develop virtual embedded control systems and virtual electronic control units as real-time counterparts of physical ECUs.
• Develop VECU packages with Design Release Engineers, Tier 1 suppliers, and model integration partners, then deploy them to internal users.
• Apply production software to VECUs and validate package integrity through functional and non-functional testing.
• Integrate VECUs onto virtual system benches and deploy and maintain virtual software integration benches.
• Debug VECUs and integrated production software, collaborating with software developers to resolve low-level and application software issues.
• Develop simulation and test scripts for expanding virtual ECU needs and usage.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Two years of experience as a Software Engineer, Application Engineer, Integration Engineer, Systems Engineer, or in a related role.
• Two years of experience with electronic control modules and embedded control systems.
• Two years of experience with C, C++, System C, and Python.
• Two years of experience with software build processes and tools including Gerrit, Jenkins, and Git.
• Two years of experience with software debugging tools including Lauterbach and Green Hills Multi IDE.
• Two years of experience with automotive communications including CAN, LIN, and SPI.
