Embedded Firmware Engineer III (Robotics)

What you will do

• Develop firmware, drivers, and embedded software for robotic and electromechanical devices.
• Perform hands-on bring-up, integration, troubleshooting, and testing of motors, actuators, sensors, and controllers.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers and technicians on board bring-up, system integration, and validation.
• Translate hardware requirements into firmware and embedded software requirements.
• Support firmware deployment, testing, documentation, and continuous integration across the product lifecycle.
• Travel when required to support hardware assembly, testing, and integration.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience developing production-grade firmware and embedded software, preferably for electromechanical hardware and robotic systems.
• Strong C++ and Python programming skills and proficiency with embedded C/C++, VHDL, or Verilog in Linux.
• Experience with Git, software testing, continuous integration, firmware validation, deployment, and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of robotic systems, mechatronics, motor control, kinematics, dynamics, sensing, control, planning, and embedded communication protocols.
• US citizenship or US permanent residency is required to comply with ITAR and EAR regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with spaceflight hardware, avionics, and radiation-hardened electronics.
• RTOS development and ROS hardware integration experience.
• Experience with EtherCAT, Ethernet, SPI, UART, CAN, I2C, RS-232, actuators, motors, encoders, IMUs, and analog sensors.
• Familiarity with soldering irons, crimpers, oscilloscopes, and other basic electronics tools.
