System Design Engineer (Semiconductor)

What you will do

• Lead complex customer escalations by coordinating R&D, Applications, Software, Hardware, and Service teams, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
• Provide sustained engineering support for field systems to enable customer adoption, product sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
• Define, document, and review system specifications and technical requirements in alignment with product roadmaps.
• Contribute to system architecture, design, development, performance characterization, and validation of advanced metrology systems.
• Act as the system-level technical owner for customer support, translating customer requirements into technical expectations and ensuring performance, quality, and reliability objectives are met.
• Drive technical excellence across alpha, beta, and mature product engagements and contribute to roadmap projects with the broader systems engineering group.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and experience developing, deploying, and supporting complex systems in the semiconductor industry.
• Technical depth in at least one of optical systems, opto-mechanics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering.
• Strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and computational methods, with analytical and system-level problem-solving skills.
• Experience with data processing, analytics, and statistical analysis.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments, take ownership of technically ambiguous problems, and lead or support customer escalations.
• Doctorate degree with 0 years of related experience, or a master's degree with 3 years of related experience, or a bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience.

• Proficiency in Python and MATLAB.
