Design Engineer (Optical/Photonic Sensors)

Location: On-site in Wilton, Connecticut, United States; up to 10% travel to Europe, Asia, and within the United States. A flexible workplace arrangement of up to 2 remote days per week may be available for roles conducive to remote work.

Base annual salary: $93,750–$137,000 for JG07, $117,750–$175,000 for JG08, or $146,250–$212,000 for JG09.

What you will do

• Design, develop, build, and integrate optical and photonic alignment sensor systems for lithography machines.
• Work with light sources, detectors, optical and electro-optical components, fiber optics, electronics, and signal-processing software.
• Build, align, test, and troubleshoot optical systems, including imaging and detector systems.
• Analyze sensor-performance data, determine root causes, execute complex tests, and develop test plans.
• Develop and debug data signal-processing algorithms and implement data-analysis techniques in MATLAB.
• Lead engineers across software, electronics, equipment engineering, and manufacturing engineering to support feature delivery.

Requirements

• For JG07: BS degree in a technical field and 2+ years of solid experience; MS preferred.
• For JG08: BS degree in a technical field and 5+ years of thorough experience; MS or PhD preferred.
• For JG09: BS degree in a technical field and 8+ years of substantial experience; MS or PhD preferred.
• Experience with data-processing, data-analysis, or software tools such as MATLAB, including experience gained during graduate studies.
• Hands-on experience with optical-system alignment, including imaging, testing, alignment, and detector systems.
• Knowledge of physics, optics, software, and sensor systems and tools.
• Familiarity with LabView and Python, MATLAB programming, data-analysis techniques, and GUI building.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems, communicate at different levels of abstraction, work independently or collaboratively, and perform effectively in a demanding environment.
• Ability to work according to strict procedures and meet timelines, with attention to detail, accuracy, ownership, accountability, and customer focus.
• Must be legally authorized to access controlled technology under applicable United States export regulations before beginning work.
