Senior Principal Electrical Engineer (High-Voltage Distribution)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; onsite at the Harbor Drive facility

Salary: $137,000–$150,000 targeted compensation; stated summary pay range of $128,470–$192,710

What you will do

• Manage electrical projects for Harbor Drive facility improvements, modifications, surveys, and infrastructure needs.
• Lead engineering analysis, design, and optimization of facility-wide electrical power distribution, including 12kV high-voltage systems, substations, and switchgear.
• Perform load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc-flash, grounding, and dynamic stability studies.
• Develop protective relaying schemes, settings, and coordination for transmission and distribution interfaces.
• Coordinate project schedules and technical activities with internal customers, maintenance, construction personnel, and outside contractors.
• Manage capital budgets, contractor purchase orders and invoicing, contractor safety, construction oversight, commissioning, and energization.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5–8 years of Electrical Engineering experience.
• Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, NESC, NEC, and applicable utility standards.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Office 365.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in California.
• 10+ years of progressive electrical power engineering experience, including at least 7 years focused on high-voltage distribution systems rated 12kV and above.
• Thorough knowledge of protective relaying equipment and systems from SEL, GE, and Siemens, as well as substation equipment and distribution automation.
