Venture Builder, Health Tech (Africa)

What you will do

• Source founders and early-stage healthcare companies across Africa and onboard them into the Venture Building program.
• Support customer discovery and validation with patients, providers, payers, public health stakeholders, and other market participants.
• Guide venture thesis, customer and business-model validation, go-to-market experiments, pricing, willingness-to-pay analysis, and commercial-demand assessment.
• Identify and address commercial, technical, regulatory, clinical, manufacturing, and market-access risks, supporting decisions to advance, pivot, extend, or stop.
• Help founders build early-stage teams, access technical experts, mentors, customers, pilot partners, talent networks, and ecosystem relationships.
• Prepare ventures for investment and scale through milestone planning, unit economics, financial assumptions, hiring priorities, fundraising narratives, and progress reporting.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building or scaling health tech startups in Africa, ideally as a founder, co-founder, or early operator; direct venture-building experience is a strong plus.
• Track record of taking at least one health product from idea to market in an African context.
• Working knowledge of health systems in one or more African markets, including healthcare delivery, payment, and regulation.
• Familiarity with digital health models such as telemedicine, remote patient monitoring, diagnostics, or health data platforms.
• Strong commercial instincts and comfort with unit economics, pricing, and partnerships with public- and private-sector actors.
• A network across African health and startup ecosystems, including clinicians, operators, investors, DFIs, and NGOs.
• Comfort working in ambiguity, across multiple stakeholders, and with a high degree of autonomy.
• English proficiency.

• Experience with medical devices or connected hardware.
• Exposure to corporate venture building or corporate innovation units.
• Background in impact measurement or work with development finance partners.
• Clinical, public health, or biomedical engineering background.
