Engineering Manager (Cybersecurity R&D)

Location: San Juan, Puerto Rico; hybrid, with an average requirement of 2 days per week from an HPE office.

What you will do

• Build and lead a team contributing to security certification readiness, operational EUCRA support, security features, test harnesses, and AI-driven defense.
• Lead the team through changing product security requirements and emerging threats.
• Collaborate with peer managers and teams across geographies to plan and execute cybersecurity projects.
• Manage headcount, deliverables, schedules, costs, project status, and stakeholder escalations across multiple projects.
• Drive process improvement and cost-reduction opportunities.
• Hire, coach, evaluate, and support the career development of assigned team members.

Requirements

• First-level university degree or equivalent experience.
• Typically 5 or more years of related work experience.
• 1–2 years of people management experience.
• Broad cybersecurity knowledge and the ability to quickly develop depth in networking, routers, switches, firewalls, networking operating systems, and software engineering.
• Agile leadership skills, including coaching, team building, and conflict resolution.
• Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence.
