Corporate Counsel, Insurance

Location: Remote in Texas, United States

Salary: $157,500–$220,500 annually, plus potential long-term incentive awards and annual bonus

hirify.global is a vertical software and insurance platform providing services for homebuyers and homeowners, with homeowners insurance and SaaS relationships across the home-buying ecosystem.

What you will do

• Provide legal counsel to senior leadership and the insurance carrier’s executive team on business objectives, regulatory compliance, litigation risk, and operational risk.
• Lead and develop the Insurance legal and compliance team, including priorities, performance management, hiring, mentoring, and growth.
• Own strategic legal and regulatory initiatives, including insurance filings, product approvals, quarterly and annual reports, governance reports, and market launches.
• Lead the insurance secretarial function and prepare materials for Board of Directors and committee meetings.
• Partner with Finance, Product, Compliance, and Claims on cross-functional programs that support approvals, market launches, and examination results.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments, build scalable policies and governance playbooks, communicate complex legal positions, and manage outside counsel.

Requirements

• J.D. degree with active bar membership in the United States.
• 3–5 years of experience in Texas at a law firm, government agency, insurance regulator, and/or in-house role, including insurance regulatory experience and experience leading legal or compliance workstreams.
• Direct insurance regulatory experience, including state DOI filings, rate and form approvals, market conduct, or InsurTech operations.
• Experience managing outside counsel and managing, mentoring, or developing team members.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, judgment, integrity, and independent matter-management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with executive audiences, explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers, and support senior leadership decisions on risk.
• Track record of leading multifaceted, cross-functional initiatives that drive successful business results.
• Experience building scalable legal and compliance frameworks, policies, and best practices, with an up-to-date understanding of key legal issues for an insurance organization.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholders and build strong relationships across the company while providing practical counsel and solutions.
