Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States; onsite work on a project in Annapolis, MD.

Salary: $170,000–$200,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems, including processing-intensive analytics, real-time systems, large-scale data processing, and business management information systems.
• Review and test software components against design requirements and document test results.
• Resolve software problem reports and contribute to software design, requirements analysis, and system-level decomposition.
• Evaluate hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and the use of COTS/GOTS solutions instead of new development.
• Work individually or as part of a team on software development projects.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is required.
• 12 years of experience as a software engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. Four additional years of software engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may substitute for the degree.
• Advanced proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Mongo, Kafka, JMS, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD.

• Analyzing user requirements and deriving software design and performance requirements.
• Debugging software, correcting defects, adding features, and integrating software into new or modified environments.
• Designing database interfaces, queries, algorithms, and software solutions using system performance standards and mathematical models.
• Developing and executing software component tests, performing quality control, and improving documentation and development standards.
• Serving as a team or technical lead, overseeing development teams, delegating programming and testing responsibilities, and monitoring performance.
• Working with system and hardware engineers to derive requirements and understand project limitations, capabilities, interfaces, and performance requirements.
• Coordinating software installation, monitoring equipment functionality, selecting development processes, and recommending technologies for complex projects.
