Water & Wastewater Engineering Intern

Location: Roseville, CA, United States. On-site. Travel under 10%. The role requires part-time availability of up to 25 hours per week on average, with additional hours potentially available during school breaks.

What you will do

• Support water, wastewater, and civil infrastructure projects from concept design through implementation and testing.
• Assist with system design, plans, calculations, details, specifications, technical reports, exhibits, spreadsheets, and other project deliverables.
• Conduct basic engineering calculations and research related to water distribution, wastewater collection, pumping, storage, and civil infrastructure.
• Assist with site visits, field investigations, construction observations, contractor submittal reviews, and collection of project information.
• Maintain project documentation and support Project Management Plans, quality control programs, databases, and engineering analyses.
• Communicate design concerns and project information to engineers, design leads, and project managers.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Civil and/or Environmental Engineering program at a four-year ABET-accredited university or college. A bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering is required or must be in progress.
• Preferred graduation target within 1 year; candidates graduating within 2 years will also be considered.
• Ability to work part-time, averaging no more than 25 hours per week, according to the school schedule.
• Reliable transportation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
• Strong interest in water, wastewater, and/or civil infrastructure engineering.
• Ability to communicate effectively, work as part of a team, learn from experienced engineers and technical staff, and work independently while asking questions when needed.
• Excellent technical writing skills for engineering reports, preliminary design reports, memos, and other technical documentation.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ASCE, AWWA, FDEP, ICC, ASTM, and/or UFC codes.
• Experience with Civil3D, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam Revu, or other modeling and drafting software.
