Senior Buyer - Scotland (Energy Procurement)

Location: High Blantyre, Scotland, United Kingdom; office and site-visiting work. Other location: Bathgate.

Growing business involved in the UK Distribution Network Operator sector, particularly SPEN and SSEN, with a focus on energy and construction projects.

What you will do

• Establish, maintain, and develop strategic relationships with key suppliers in the DNO market.
• Source and procure substation goods, electrical components, construction materials, and other project requirements.
• Follow DNO-approved materials lists and confirm equipment meets client type approvals and applicable industry standards.
• Work with project teams to align procurement with project requirements, timelines, business strategy, and budgets.
• Negotiate supplier pricing and terms to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
• Maintain accurate purchase, contract, and supplier records; coordinate with Finance to resolve invoice issues and support the P2P process.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Buyer or Buyer within the energy, construction, or M&E sector.
• CIPS Level 4 qualification or above.
• Experience procuring materials for substations, construction, or M&E projects.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Very good administration, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• A strong desire to develop in a rapidly growing and fast-paced technical industry.
• Detail-oriented approach with excellent organisational and analytical skills.
• Computer literacy and a driving licence.

Nice to have

• In-depth knowledge of DNO specifications, electrical components, and technology.
• Experience procuring materials related to power systems and power transmission.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
• Eagerness to develop in the role.
