Full Stack Engineer III (Trust & Safety)

Location: Remote - US. Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States; hirify.global does not provide immigration sponsorship. Employment is unavailable in Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, and West Virginia. Occasional travel may be required for company events, team collaboration, or offsites.

Annual base salary: $156,400–$189,520 for Tier 3, $172,040–$208,472 for Tier 2, or $187,680–$227,424 for Tier 1. Employees are eligible for equity awards and competitive benefits.

What you will do

• Build and improve systems that detect and stop spam, phishing, bots, fraudulent SMS traffic, and other abuse across sign-up, booking, and messaging flows.
• Improve the reliability, deliverability, and compliance of email and SMS notifications.
• Ship and evaluate detection systems against real traffic, balancing false positives and false negatives.
• Respond to active abuse during on-call rotations and replace short-term fixes with durable solutions.
• Build tools for Trust & Safety Operations to review accounts efficiently and understand system decisions.
• Partner with Product, Operations, Data, Support, and other product teams; review implementation plans and pull requests.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software development experience at a SaaS or technology company, including building and running production systems.
• Strong backend skills building services, APIs, and data-heavy workflows in a service-oriented architecture.
• Experience with Rails, Node/TypeScript, Go, or a comparable language or framework, with willingness to work across more than one.
• Comfort with relational databases and SQL, and with using data to evaluate whether changes worked.
• Analytical, curious approach to identifying how systems could be misused and sound judgment about trade-offs between blocking abuse and avoiding customer friction.
• Commitment to clean, reliable, maintainable code, thoughtful testing, and incremental delivery.
• Clear communication with engineers and non-engineers, including Operations and Support partners.
• Comfort and skill using AI tools in engineering work, including critically reviewing their output.
• Availability to participate in an on-call rotation for critical services.
• Lawful authorization to work in the United States without immigration sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience in trust and safety, fraud, spam, or abuse prevention.
• Experience with email or SMS delivery, deliverability, sender reputation, or messaging compliance.
• Experience with bot protection, rate limiting, or third-party risk and verification services.
• Experience building rules engines, risk scoring, or ML-backed production decisions.
• Experience using LLMs to classify or moderate user-generated content.
• Experience with GCP, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, or Redis.
