Assistant Professor, Sport Management

Location: Kingsville, Texas, United States; on-campus and online instruction may be required.

What you will do

• Teach assigned undergraduate and graduate sport management courses, including sport marketing, sport economics, sport finance, sport law, sport public relations, and seminars or current topics.
• Deliver instruction across on-campus and online formats while maintaining teaching effectiveness and student engagement.
• Develop syllabi, assignments, assessments, and updated course content aligned with departmental expectations.
• Maintain an active scholarly or creative research agenda through publications, presentations, or applied scholarship.
• Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, assessment, accreditation, student recruitment, and community engagement.
• Advise, mentor, and guide students while supporting university compliance, meetings, and institutional responsibilities.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Sport Management or a closely related field from an accredited university.
• Effective oral and written communication, presentation, interpersonal, organizational, multitasking, and collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of teaching and instructional methods, active listening strategies, course adaptation, and inductive and deductive reasoning.
• Working knowledge of office software and instructional programs.
• Ability to interact positively and professionally with clients, staff, and groups of various sizes.
• Must obtain export-control authorization before starting employment.
• Must comply with applicable state and federal laws, codes, Texas A&M University System and TAMU policies, regulations, rules, procedures, and safety requirements.
• This is a security-sensitive position requiring a criminal history investigation and verification of credentials and other required information.

Nice to have

• 3–5 years of full-time college or university teaching experience.
• Experience teaching through multiple instructional modalities, such as online, hybrid, HyFlex, or lab-based formats.
• Sport, fitness, hospitality, and/or recreation industry experience.
• Familiarity with COSMA accreditation.
