Assistant Professor, Studio Art (Photography)

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas, United States; full-time, on-campus faculty position

What you will do

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in digital and analogue photography.
• Develop curriculum and instructional strategies that prepare students for advanced study and professional opportunities.
• Manage photography labs, facilities, equipment, supplies, training, and safety protocols.
• Supervise student workers and contribute to BFA and MFA reviews.
• Participate in departmental meetings and university and professional service.
• Maintain an active exhibition record and sustained creative research practice.

Requirements

• Master of Fine Arts with demonstrated expertise in photography.
• Evidence of effective university- or college-level teaching.
• Expertise teaching undergraduate and graduate analogue and digital photography.
• Knowledge of current safety and health standards for photography laboratories.
• Experience collaborating in a team-oriented environment.
• Evidence of ongoing scholarly and/or creative activity.

Nice to have

• At least three years of teaching experience beyond graduate school.
• Experience mentoring and providing leadership to undergraduate and graduate students across disciplines.
• Knowledge of photography history, theory, trends, and contemporary practice.

• Full-time, 9-month tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.
• Teaching load of two courses per semester, with one three-course semester every two years.
