AI Software Engineer (LLM Agents)

Location: Remote; Cambridge, UK; London, UK. Remote work is offered, with compensation bands for the UK and US.

Salary: UK £80,000–£125,000; US $125,000–$250,000, depending on experience, plus equity.

What you will do

• Build production AI agents that inspect circuit boards, program robots, monitor factory operations, automate back-office workflows, and assist with software development.
• Find manual processes and automate them end to end by combining model-based judgment with conventional code.
• Build tools and platform capabilities for agents running in production.
• Design evaluations using blind tests, shadow runs, historical replays, accuracy tracking, and cost-per-run measurement.
• Develop safe agent execution with sandboxed cloud machines, structured outputs, durable receipts, and idempotent tool calls.
• Work with factory operators, finance, and other people using the systems.

Requirements

• Experience putting LLM agents into production and identifying what failed and how effectiveness was measured.
• Strong software engineering skills, with most of the work focused on concurrency, idempotency, data modelling, and security rather than prompting.
• Ability to build evaluations before trusting an agent result.
• Interest in physical-world systems such as cameras, robots, electronics components, and automated manufacturing.
• Experience or ability to work with the listed agent, application, data, and infrastructure technologies, including Claude Code, Codex, Claude and OpenAI APIs, MCP, TypeScript, Bun, React, Python, FastAPI, Dagster, OpenCV, OR-Tools, PostgreSQL, Nix, NixOS, Nomad, Terraform, Vault, AWS, Modal sandboxes, and OpenTelemetry.
