Staff Software Engineer (Agent Optimization)

Location: Remote in the United States or Canada

Salary: $169,600–$278,250 annually, depending on geographic tier and level; equity is offered.

What you will do

• Lead agent optimization efforts focused on token spend, response time, and output quality.
• Design and build reliable agentic coding systems and tools for hirify.global users.
• Develop AI application patterns involving model routing, multi-agent architectures, cache policies, and context management.
• Own new features end to end and collaborate across teams to deliver reliable APIs and developer experiences.
• Work with Python, TypeScript, Java, and Go while contributing to agent skills and ecosystem integrations.
• Support the developer community through expert debugging, technical documentation, and best-practice guidance.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven experience optimizing AI systems using machine-learning and systems techniques, particularly for agents or coding.
• Deep experience with concurrent programming, including mutexes, atomics, and other concurrency primitives.
• Experience designing public APIs, writing documentation, and contributing to large-scale distributed systems.
• Fluency in multiple programming languages and strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• A BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent production software experience.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with hirify.global’s programming model.
• Open-source contributions, including contributions to third-party libraries.
• Background in machine learning, model training, data science, or machine-learning systems.
• Graduate degree in Computer Science.
