Mechatronics Engineer (Motion Control)

Location: On-site in Wilton, Connecticut, United States; domestic and/or international travel up to 10% may be required.

What you will do

• Take end-to-end technical ownership of deliverables and lead complex designs through the V-model.
• Contribute to the feasibility, specification, design, and validation of mechatronic modules across the product lifecycle.
• Develop mechatronic design concepts and advanced control techniques to improve performance, cost, and reliability.
• Collaborate with business sectors and system module engineers to align complex designs and integrate subsystems.
• Address risks, perform root cause analysis, manage stakeholders, and evaluate design trade-offs and boundary conditions.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide or influence the work of peers.

Requirements

• BS or BE degree in a relevant technical field.
• At least 4 years of relevant work experience.
• Control theory knowledge, including PID control, feedback and feedforward control, transfer functions, Laplace transforms, linear systems theory, sensitivity functions, stability margins, Bode and Nyquist plot analysis, system identification, digital filtering with FIR and IIR, and power spectral density analysis.
• MATLAB, data structures, visualization and plotting, script and tool development, modeling and simulation, and optimization techniques.
• Systems engineering experience covering system integration, systems thinking, requirements engineering, verification and validation, root cause analysis, and FMEA-based risk analysis.
• Motion-control knowledge covering trajectory generation, actuator and sensor modeling, system performance analysis, real-time control systems, and control system architecture.
• Legal authorization to access controlled technology under United States Export Administration Regulations before beginning work.
• Ability to perform routine sitting, walking, talking, hearing, keyboard use, reaching, stretching, and occasional movement around campus; lift or move up to 20 pounds when required; and work with specified visual abilities.

• MS or PhD in a relevant technical field.
• Experience with mechatronic systems and motion control.
