Customs Brokerage Manager

What you will do

• Develop the customs brokerage product across operations, finances, sales, people, systems, and culture while following company policies and procedures.
• Ensure correct shipment classification instructions, monitor duty deferment, license and visa applications, and support accurate transitions for new business.
• Maintain customer and customs-authority relationships, conduct two face-to-face retention or sales calls per week, follow up on refunds, and provide customer review content.
• Support trade compliance efforts, training, AEO file audits, customs reporting, and the management of customs systems and databases.
• Promote digitization and productivity tools, including edoc, process management, Customsware, Expo Customs, Expo Request, and Expo Reporting.
• Conduct staff appraisals and one-to-one meetings, assist with goal setting, and monitor employee development.

Requirements

• Knowledge of hirify.global policies, procedures, products, services, and systems.
• Strong market and competition knowledge, plus good knowledge of customs brokerage processes and systems.
• Knowledge of customs legislation, especially classification, valuation, and origin; customs regulations, tariffs, and systems.
• Understanding of ocean, transcon, and air documentation processes; knowledge of air, road, and ocean transport and Incoterms.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to listen, understand, and communicate clearly to achieve positive results.
• Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and Word; familiarity with digitization tools; strong organizational and proactive working style.
• Fluent English, proven negotiation skills, and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly and effectively.
• Ability to maintain privileged relationships with customs authorities, work autonomously, show initiative, accept feedback, and demonstrate emotional resilience and integrity.
• Proven leadership attitude and background.
• 3–5 years of customs brokerage experience and a Licensed Customs Broker qualification are preferred.
