Research Associate (Mass Spectrometry Proteomics)

Location: Manchester, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom; laboratory-based role at Oxford Road. Hybrid working arrangements may be considered.

Salary: £37,694 per annum.

The hirify.global's Rice Lab is part of the Division of Musculoskeletal and Dermatological Sciences and collaborates with the proteomics laboratory of Professor Matthias Trost.

What you will do

• Investigate the effect of collagen glycosylation on cartilage health in the context of osteoarthritis.
• Perform molecular and cell biological experiments, including CRISPR-Cas9, primary cell culture, and western blotting.
• Use downstream LC-MS/MS to characterise chondrocyte and extracellular matrix proteomes.
• Independently perform experiments and work with the Principal Investigator to conceptualise studies and design experiments.
• Publish findings in appropriate journals and contribute to a collaborative team-science approach.
• Support team members and trainees intellectually and practically while working with internal and external collaborators.

Requirements

• Postdoctoral experience as a mass spectrometrist or proteomics expert.
• Substantial hands-on experience with mass spectrometry platforms.
• Demonstrable knowledge of cell biology relevant to the laboratory's research focus.
• Experience with cell biology activities, including primary cell culture and western blotting.
• Experience or capability in using CRISPR-Cas9 and LC-MS/MS proteomics.
• Ability to perform experiments independently, conceptualise studies, and design rigorous experiments.
• Ability to collaborate with internal and external research partners and support colleagues and trainees.
