Associate Principal Scientist (Biopharmaceutical Process Development)

What you will do

• Lead scientific projects focused on biologics process development, optimization, and characterization across upstream and downstream operations.
• Design experiments, analyze data, and interpret results to improve process understanding, efficiency, yield, and product quality.
• Apply vector and host cell engineering approaches to integrate payloads and knock out gene function in mammalian cells.
• Prepare and review technical reports, protocols, and regulatory documentation for process development and manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot complex technical challenges, develop innovative solutions, and present findings internally and at scientific conferences.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality control, regulatory affairs, and other cross-functional teams while mentoring junior scientists and research associates.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related field with 5+ years of biopharmaceutical industry experience; alternatively, a Master’s degree with 10+ years of experience.
• Experience with vector and/or host cell engineering for payload integration or gene-function knockout in mammalian cells.
• Proven experience leading scientific projects in biopharmaceutical process development and delivering measurable results.
• Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of upstream processing, including cell culture and fermentation, and/or downstream processing, including chromatography and filtration.
• Expertise in Design of Experiments, statistical analysis, data interpretation, and modern laboratory instrumentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
