Company

hirify.global-EBI is a research organisation that develops and maintains open biological databases, tools and infrastructure for the global scientific community.

What you will do

  • Analyse XL-MS, CF-MS, AP-MS and integrative modelling workflows to define data and metadata requirements.
  • Develop standards, data models and interoperable tools connecting proteomics and structural biology formats.
  • Build tools, APIs, workflows and documentation for compliant data deposition, conversion and local validation.
  • Implement cross-modality validation, identifier mapping and provenance tracking between experimental evidence, structural restraints and integrative models.
  • Establish linked deposition, release, search, visualisation and programmatic access services with PRIDE and PDB-IHM colleagues.
  • Engage with researchers, standards communities and analysis-tool developers, and contribute to publications, training and dissemination.

Requirements

  • PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, structural biology, proteomics, computer science or a related field.
  • Knowledge of structural biology, protein structures, molecular interaction data and protein sequence, structure and functional annotations.
  • Experience with biological data, metadata, identifiers, scientific repositories and data-integration workflows.
  • Scientific software development experience, preferably with Python, plus experience with APIs or data-processing pipelines.
  • Experience with Linux, Git, testing, documentation, FAIR data principles, metadata standards and reproducible research.
  • Relevant scientific publications and strong communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with integrative or hybrid modelling, structure prediction, macromolecular modelling or mass-spectrometry-based proteomics.
  • Familiarity with IHMCIF, mmCIF, mzIdentML or SDRF-Proteomics standards.
  • Experience developing validators, conversion tools, deposition systems, scientific web services, REST APIs, databases, containers or workflow-management systems.
  • Experience with data visualisation, analysis, international interdisciplinary collaboration or AI-assisted coding with appropriate testing and validation.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative and inclusive international research environment on the Wellcome Genome Campus.
  • Hybrid working arrangements, 30 days of annual leave and public holidays.
  • Private medical insurance, pension and insurance schemes, family and child allowances, and parental benefits.
  • Relocation package with an installation grant where required.
  • International applicants may be offered visa exemptions, with additional support for eligible non-UK residents.
  • Campus facilities include a shuttle bus, library, gym, cafeteria, nursery and sports and social clubs.

Hiring process
