Senior Automation Software Engineer (Siemens PCS 7)

Location: Hybrid, Gliwice, Poland; commissioning work is performed on site and remotely, with approximately 10% travel and up to 12 weeks of project and commissioning travel per year.

What you will do

• Design and run Distributed Control System projects for Energy from Waste and Renewable Gas plants.
• Develop DCS software for Energy from Waste plants and PLC software for Renewable Gas plants and package units.
• Configure industrial networks, managed switches, routers, DMZ routers, firewalls, and industrial PCs, and coordinate IT/OT interfaces.
• Perform Factory Acceptance Testing for DCS hardware and software, including Safety Instrumented Systems, and commission systems on site and remotely.
• Review technical specifications and RfQ documents, lead customer design reviews, and support tendering and commissioning activities.
• Develop DCS template libraries, HMI faceplates, and typicals; coach entry-level engineers and contribute to technical standards, processes, and department strategy.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of hands-on Siemens PCS 7 experience, including engineering, configuration, and commissioning, with strong knowledge of PCS 7 V9.
• Experience setting up PCS 7 projects from scratch and configuring complete DCS systems, with understanding of AS, OS, ES, and network infrastructure.
• Practical experience with industrial Ethernet and configuring and programming network switches.
• Experience integrating package units and third-party systems into a DCS.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience leading FAT, SWFAT, and SAT activities.
• Willingness to travel for project work and commissioning, limited to approximately 12 weeks per year.
• Experience coaching junior engineers and contributing to internal PCS 7 standards and libraries.
• Confident written and spoken English.
