TL;DR
Robotics Software Engineer – Navigation (ROS/ROS 2, Nav2, C++/Python): Developing autonomous navigation, motion planning, and control systems for mobile robots operating in dynamic industrial environments with an accent on safety, trajectory tracking, obstacle avoidance, and multi-robot coordination. Focus on designing navigation architectures, testing algorithms on physical robots, analysing telemetry and rosbags, and improving mission completion, docking, and movement efficiency.
Location: Warsaw, Poland; onsite / hybrid
Company
hirify.global develops autonomous mobile robots and complete robotics solutions for industrial facilities, warehouses, and logistics centres, including electronics, control systems, navigation, sensor integration, robot software, and fleet-management cloud services.
What you will do
Develop autonomous navigation systems, global and local trajectory-planning algorithms, motion controllers, and trajectory-tracking algorithms.
Build obstacle detection and avoidance, costmaps, traversability maps, environment representations, and navigation behaviours for dynamic industrial environments.
Integrate navigation with localisation, safety sensors, drive control, ROS, ROS 2, and Nav2-based solutions.
Test algorithms in simulation and on physical robots, prepare navigation-quality metrics, and analyse logs, rosbags, trajectories, and telemetry.
Collaborate with SLAM, embedded, machine-learning, safety, and fleet-management teams while diagnosing issues during customer deployments.
Requirements
At least 2 years of relevant professional experience developing autonomous navigation systems for mobile robots.
Practical knowledge of ROS or ROS 2 and Nav2, the ROS Navigation Stack, or similar solutions.
Good knowledge of C++ and/or Python, motion-planning and graph-search algorithms, local planning, and obstacle avoidance.
Understanding of mobile-robot kinematics, control systems, trajectory tracking, costmaps, LiDAR data, and environment models.
Experience analysing physical robot behaviour, diagnosing issues with logs, rosbags, and telemetry, and testing software on physical robots.
Very good knowledge of Linux and Git, with English sufficient for confident work with technical documentation.
Nice to have
Experience with A*, D*, Dijkstra, RRT, RRT*, TEB, DWA, MPC, MPPI, Behavior Trees, or complete coverage path planning.
Experience with differential-drive, Ackermann, or four-wheel-steering robots, social navigation, or multi-robot traffic management.
Knowledge of Open-RMF, VDA 5050, Gazebo, Isaac Sim, Docker, CI/CD, automated testing, or AMR and AGV systems.
Experience integrating LiDARs, cameras, ToF sensors, and safety sensors or deploying robots in industrial and logistics facilities.
Culture & Benefits
Influence the behaviour of autonomous robots operating at customer sites.
Work on the complete navigation system, from mission planning to motion control.
Access to physical robots, simulation environments, sensors, and dedicated testing infrastructure.
Work on complex navigation and multi-robot coordination problems in dynamic industrial facilities.
High degree of independence and direct cooperation with the technical team.
Full-time employment with compensation aligned with experience and responsibility.
