TL;DR
Robotics Software Engineer – SLAM (Robotics/SLAM): Developing localisation and mapping algorithms for autonomous mobile robots operating in large, dynamic industrial environments with an accent on LiDAR, visual-inertial systems, sensor fusion, and real-time performance. Focus on improving localisation accuracy, reducing lost-position events, building shared mapping systems, and validating algorithms on physical robots and simulation environments.
Location: Warsaw, Poland; onsite or hybrid
Company
hirify.global develops autonomous mobile robots and complete robotics solutions for industrial facilities, warehouses, and logistics centres, including navigation, sensor integration, robot software, and fleet management.
What you will do
Develop SLAM, localisation, odometry, and state-estimation algorithms for autonomous mobile robots.
Design and implement 2D LiDAR, 3D LiDAR, Visual SLAM, and Visual-Inertial SLAM solutions.
Integrate LiDAR, cameras, IMUs, encoders, and other sensors using sensor-fusion methods.
Build mapping tools and mechanisms for loop closure, relocalisation, lost-position detection, and dynamic-object handling.
Optimise algorithms for real-time operation on onboard computers and implement components in ROS and ROS 2.
Test solutions in simulation and on physical robots, analyse logs and datasets, define quality metrics, and collaborate with navigation, control, sensor-integration, and embedded teams.
Requirements
At least 2 years of relevant professional experience.
Experience developing SLAM, localisation, odometry, or state-estimation algorithms.
Practical knowledge of ROS or ROS 2 and good knowledge of C++ and/or Python.
Knowledge of LiDAR, camera, IMU, and multi-sensor-fusion methods; 2D/3D geometry, coordinate transformations, and matrix calculus.
Knowledge of Kalman filters, particle filters, graph optimisation, or similar estimation methods, plus experience processing point clouds or images and working with real sensor data.
Very good knowledge of Linux and Git, ability to diagnose issues using logs, rosbags, and telemetry, and English sufficient for technical documentation and research papers.
Nice to have
Experience with Cartographer, SLAM Toolbox, RTAB-Map, LIO-SAM, FAST-LIO, ORB-SLAM, VINS-Fusion, or similar solutions.
Knowledge of PCL, OpenCV, Eigen, Ceres Solver, GTSAM, ICP, NDT, scan matching, feature matching, factor graphs, or pose-graph optimisation.
Experience with AMRs or AGVs, industrial and warehouse environments, multi-robot systems, or shared maps.
Knowledge of Gazebo, Isaac Sim, Docker, CI/CD, test automation, NVIDIA Jetson, or industrial edge computers.
Publications, open-source contributions, or personal SLAM implementations.
Culture & Benefits
Direct influence on the localisation and mapping systems of autonomous robots.
Work with real data, physical robots, LiDARs, cameras, IMUs, and a dedicated testing environment.
Opportunity to develop 2D, 3D, and vision-based solutions and test algorithms in large industrial facilities.
High independence and direct cooperation with the technical team.
Participation in developing new products and future robot generations.
Compensation aligned with experience and level of responsibility.
