Automation Software Engineer (DCS/PLC)

Location: Hybrid in Gliwice, Poland, with on-site and remote commissioning and up to approximately 10% travel; international project travel may last up to about 6 months per year.

What you will do

• Engineer and deliver Distributed Control System (DCS) projects for Energy from Waste plants and develop PLC software for Renewable Gas plants and package units.
• Configure managed switches, routers, DMZ routers, firewalls, and industrial PCs.
• Help design and coordinate the IT/OT interface for Energy from Waste plants.
• Perform Factory Acceptance Testing of DCS hardware and software, including Safety Instrumented Systems.
• Commission systems on site and remotely and support tendering and commissioning teams.
• Review technical specifications and RfQ documents, participate in customer design reviews, and improve DCS template libraries, HMI faceplates, typicals, and lessons learned.

Requirements

• Background in automation, control systems, or electrical engineering.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to technical work.
• Willingness to learn PCS 7 engineering and develop practical commissioning skills through on-the-job training.
• Interest in building a long-term career in industrial automation and commissioning.
• Flexibility to support projects in different locations and working environments, including international travel for project and commissioning work for up to about 6 months per year.
• Ability to work effectively with experienced engineers and take on additional responsibility progressively.
• Confident written and spoken English communication.

Nice to have

• Initial experience with Siemens PCS 7, DCS, or industrial automation.
